By agreeing to be a part of a new government it appears that Ayad Allawi has removed the last major obstacle to Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Malik's formation of a new government, something he must do by law before Dec. 25. With this in mind we thought it would be interesting to look at Franco Pagetti's series of black & white portraits that capture the faces of ordinary Iraqis in Baghdad - a butcher, a tea seller, a fishmonger, a baker, a shoe shiner et al - trapped amidst the violence, politics and suicide bombings that have become an almost weekly occurrence in the capital. They are the lucky ones - The Survivors.
